A lot has changed and yet some things remain the same
Take art. Still love it. Still love creating it.
It can so greatly influence the way a room comes together.
But in four years I have learned a lot more.
And there have been some memorable sets in my catalogue
that have some cringe-worthy errors.
Time to fix them up.
Perhaps you are familiar with this scenario:
You're building and decide to change the image in CAS
when suddenly
"The current style is invalid"
Red. Alert.
efff ewe little orange arrow. tschaaa ....... |
Fie.
Fie I say.
So it was time to say goodbye to some old favorites
and re-introduce them as 2.0
Yup - they are reborn
only better and bigger.
Bigger is better right?
Guys?
So.
Magick originally had 7 images, but
it never felt complete
and the mesh had seriously too many polys.
Like four times the amount it needed.
Magick now has 13 images per set.
Two sets.
That's . . . like . . . twenty ... something images
Okay - swear - these are really different and the new one is much better. Pinkie swear! |
Remember Noodie Cutie?
A whopping two images?
Peh!
Try 16.
Rebuilt, remapped, re-situated on the wall
AND
an optional frame for this one too
Just as filthy as you remembered.
Ain't no amount of soap gonna clean them eyes.
also ...
This particular mesh is a very handy dandy shape
that lends itself to so many images
so why not have two more sets?
Introducing Pulp
and Esoteric
And Factory Living?
Five images and only three of them useful.
It too has a new look ...
A completely new look
and a new optional frame
But that's not all...
Remember X-Ray Specks?
Only Three box tops???
The complete etching set has been unearthed
and has been designated to a completely new (original, non-EA) mesh
that hopefully NOW
you'll be proud to own.
And finally ....
My very first set ever
has been redesigned the way it was intended to appear
on a larger (and finally original) mesh.
This has been extended to 13 images
and only four years later,
and only four years later,
I am honoring the promise of
the female companion set:
So. Much. Academia.!!.
Here - you take a look at all this stuff while I grab a cup of coffee . . .
This wore me out!

<3 all these, thank you!
ReplyDeletei took one of everything. i love all of these a ton. thanks a lot, homie!
ReplyDeleteI just grab it all! Love it! Loveeeeeeeee! <3
ReplyDeleteEric you are very witty hehe. Anyway I love all these updates and I definetly snagged the ones I had before and of course some new new shinny things.
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch Linda a.k.a. lpvinyl21
great work, as always. thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, and and i'll say it again: I love your artwork. Thank you for enriching my game so much.
ReplyDeleteLove your work. All my sims houses are branded Baufive. Is Orpheous by Franz Von Stuck still on the Magick set? I am not seeing it on my phone screen.
ReplyDeleteHi Vjc - I think you are thinking of the Blame the Booty set . . . here - that set has not been updated and I am not sure if I have any plans to . . . though it does deserve a part two at the very least!!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the positive feedback!!
You are correct. Thank you. Your ruggs are fabulous as is the Grant Park sets. Which begs the question, will you be creating for Sims 4? I don't know if I can bear to play without you.
ReplyDeleteSims 4 ... I think all of the current creators are throwing that question around. Previews so far show a very slick looking environment but no one really knows what is real to the game (vs what is being shown to gain interest). It usually takes a little bit of time before the programs are in place to allow for new content and for people to get comfortable with the new steps to create. So - not to be evasive, but only time will tell. Many TS2 artists never made the jump and I think it might end up being something of the same for the TS3 artists regarding the next generation. I plan to examine the game thoroughly, but I am getting the sense that it won't be out until the holidays if this year at all.
ReplyDeleteIt is already clear that the clothes and furniture are going to be as lifeless as in Sims 3. I think I might need to start figuring out how to creat myself. Do you use Maya? It is massively expensive.
ReplyDeleteI actually use milkshape. I know people roll their eyes at that program but it works fine and honestly - unless you need a program that does more - it's all you really need. Wings is also a popular program. Anim8tor is another. Both I believe are completely free, but I found them confusing personally. I use UVMapper Pro for mapping and an older version of Blender for baking.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Nice chatting with you. It's like meeting a celebrity.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks :::blush::: it's just me hehe -- Good chatting with you :D Easier on Tumblr if you are on there
ReplyDeleteForgive me, I'm new to your creations, and I dearly want to use them! But are the paintings in this set for Sims 2 or Sims 3? I need them for Sims 2, they would be incredible in my warehouse apartments! Thank you for you help :)
ReplyDeleteI have only designed for Sims 3 - never actually played Sims 2. I do know there is a thread at BPS requesting conversions. My TOU does not specifically address this, but I am open to TS2 conversions. TS4 on the other hand remains to be seen. Thanks, and good luck :)
ReplyDeleteHi, do you think you could tell me the name of the artist who painted the fourth image in the top row of the esoteric group? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi Cassandra - it was a Tumblr find - using google image search it appears to be by a rather amazing artist - Brad Kunkle - hope this helps!
ReplyDeletedo you know who created the third one in the very top row of the esoteric group? its my favorite piece to use for my sims houses and i cant seem to find it anywhere. i'm trying to find the artist so i can possibly find prints of the piece. thank you
ReplyDeleteHi Lyne - isn't that a cool piece? Another no-credit on some blog. Very frustrating. Google image has been a god-send - need to go back to this post and credit appropriately when I have some time. The artist is Annie Wu - the piece is called Camoflage. After locating and reading about it - the artist stated that she wanted to create a more finished piece which, I too, would be interested in owning (at least a copy!) in real life. Beautiful work!
ReplyDeletei love all of them but none of them work for me ; n ;
ReplyDeleteHi Mia - I'm sorry to hear they are not working for you. Sadly - it is my experience that something as simple as a picture should simply work. There have been no updates to Sims 3 that would somehow change the way they are accepted by the game (unlike when, say, surfaces when Pets was released were rendered completely borked [or the teleportation bathtub issue]) and it is very uncommon for there to be a genuine conflict with another object. If you use a program like Dashboard, it can sometimes help suss out the problem, but mostly if it's either a duplicate or a wrong file type and that program won't help with sim3packs. If you installed as a sim3pack (which I personally don't recommend for pretty much a gazillion reasons) you may need to uninstall them and try reinstalling them. My own launcher continued to have problems installing sim3packs and I would have a foreign file create in the DCCache folder if I ran into an issue with an install. It's been such a long time since I fussed with a sim3pack, I can't remember exactly what the file type was - I think I complained about it on one of the forums or on Tumblr. I highly recommend installing the package files for things other than counters and worlds. If you installed using CCMagic, I have read some posts that people have things appear in one game but not another. Not sure what that would be, but if you do use it - you could try installing into the Legacy folder to simply test them out (it's where I put all test and try items that I download or create). Hope you are able to sort it out.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe Tumblr Sets link is broken. :(
ReplyDeleteJust found your website, again, I assume! Can't remember ever being here before.
I love what you're doing! I was organizing my "unsorted packages" folder into folders per creator. Found baufive_kilim_accessories and a google search led me to you :D
Hey Ida! Thanks for catching that. SimFileShare had a small issue with 404 errors and I fixed every link (added an S to HTTP and removed WWW. ) but neglected to test every last link. Don't miss the latest post for additional sims 3 items that are no longer exclusive to Tumblr and read why I have left Tumblr. Still bummed about the whole thing truth be told.
